ALTSCHULER: TIM BISHOP'S "SILENCE IS DEAFENING"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, July 27, 2010
Bishop Should Return Rangel $$ and Call For His Resignation
Randy Altschuler, the conservative Republican candidate for Congress (NY-1), today renewed his campaign's call for incumbent Congressman Tim Bishop to return $15,000 donated to his campaign by scandal plagued Congressman Charlie Rangel. On March 8th the Altschuler campaign called on Tim Bishop to return all donations made by either Rangel for Congress or by Charles Rangel National Leadership Political Action Committee. Obviously, the call fell on deaf ears.
Randy Altschuler said, "Today I am renewing my call on Congressman Tim Bishop to return any and all monies received from Congressman's Charlie Rangel's campaign or his Political Action Committee. On March 8th, nearly six months ago, my campaign sent a letter and issued a press release on the matter. Tim Bishop never replied and took no action.
"Since then it has become abundantly clear that Charlie Rangel is ethically challenged. Many of Tim Bishop's Democratic colleagues have had the good sense to either return funds to Rangel or donate the monies in question to charity.
"Tim Bishop remains silent, and in this case, the silence is deafening. Tim Bishop needs to explain why he hasn't returned the money and why he hasn't called on Charlie Rangel to resign. Charlie Rangel has proven that the culture of corruption is alive, well and residing in Washington and New York. Now, Tim Bishop needs to decide does he stand by his buddy Charlie Rangel or does he do the right thing and condemn his actions and return the money."
